My Story

Dad Does Dirt evolved from the magic of plants and concern for the world we will leave future generations. Head Farmer, Andrew is not originally from Texas but got here as fast as he could.  Midwest roots and over a decade as an expat in Asia predominantly gives this farmer a unique perspective and understands the importance of climate around the world.

A passion for gardening that goes back over 20 years Andrew quickly realized Houston residents are so fortunate to be live in a ecosystem that allows year round harvesting and offers a wide range of fruits and vegetables.   ‘Nothing is more satisfying that providing for your family a nutritious and healthy dinner from your garden’.  Years of perfecting his craft evolved into friends and family demanding his services with their gardens because their efforts did not produce the quality or abundance that they enjoyed when done organically in a full spectrum ecosystem.

Despite Houston being an incredible spot for year round produce – It does come with a handful of challenges that makes most amateur gardeners frustrated and disappointed with their efforts.   First and foremost… It comes down the dirt and maintenance.  Plants require care and help to ensure that they are given the best chance of success and that comes from maintence from our team as part of the subscription service.

The chickens provide invaluable composting materials, compost provides the nutrients for plants, bee’s pollinate the plants, rainwater provides water to plants and humans, harvested fruits and vegetables feed your family and chickens.  It’s a closed loop system where each input plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success and health of your ecosystem.
